March 23rd
A bike ride over the railroad tracks. I went to sign up for driving classes. I can't afford a car, but...

Warsaw Central Station, underground, Platform 3. The left side has been refurbished. The right side (except for the display) has not. As a long-time rider from this station I have to say the difference is striking. Light paneling on the ceiling instead of leaky, disgusting dark slabs, a blue, shiny and bilingual platform sign and electronic display instead of the old split-flap display, a raised texture safety band at the edge of the platform to keep blind people safe and make it less slippery...more is to come but it's already looking good.

February 20thA photo from the train ride home. It was very crowded, but we had seats because we got on at the first stop, in Dresden. After the border, people were packed like sardines.

February 15thThe Hauptbahnhof, or Main Station in Dresden. Not a particularly good photograph, but it was cold and I was in a hurry to catch the tram. I'm so sick of the cold weather, it's really dulling my appetite for photography.

January 13thŁodzianka means woman from Łódź. Here she is at the train station on a misty Thursday afternoon. I don't know whether she's coming or going, or just taking a shortcut across the platform, but she definitely knows where she's headed.
More photos from around the train station:

309/365: Fabryczna train station
November 5th
Taking a shortcut behind the tracks to the electric plant. Łódź Fabryczna means Factory Lodz, and it is the main station for the city. Built in 1865, by allowance of the tsar Alexander II, it was to join Łódź to Koluszki and the Warsaw-Vienna railway, originally as an industrial transport route. Passengers began riding in 1866. The depot was designed by one Adolf Schimmelpfennig.

95/365: I always get the wrong train
95/365: I always get the wrong train, originally uploaded by Magic Madzik.
April 5thMost of them are low-riding, spacy new pretties, but somehow whenever I'm taking my bike I land on one of the old clunkers where I can barely squeeze through the doors with my bike. And there's steps, high steps. I got bruises getting on and off that thing.
(the box is full of mazurki)
