Dryers are still considered a luxury here, especially in cities like Lodz where there are many green patches and courtyards between the houses. People have trouble understanding why they should buy an appliance that takes up valuable space and pads the electricity bill when there is sunshine, and trees to tie a line to. Displaying your underwear to every pedestrian and car which happens to pass by is a more reasonable price.

I don't use a dryer, either. It takes up valuable quarters (I go to a laundromat) which could be used for more batches of laundry, and it deteriorates cloth more quickly.
